If you are convicted of a DWI, reinstatement of your license is dependent upon the completion of all state conditions and the installation of an approved ignition interlock device. What are the steps to license recovery in New York?
If you were charged with a DWI in New York and are required to have an interlock device. The required length of your interlock will be determined by the jurisdiction where you were arrested. Steps to license recovery may include the following:
- Serve any jail or suspension time and pay all applicable court fines/fees.
- Collect necessary paperwork:
- Condition of Discharge, Probation order or Problem Driver form (DMV conditioned clients)
- Drivers license
- Valid Insurance information that your agent or insurance company can provide.
- Vehicle registration information (Owned by the client or signed letter from the owner of the vehicle)
- Contact information for your Monitoring Authority.
