How Do I Get An Ignition Interlock Device (iid) Installed In Texas?
When can I get my IID installed?
Check with your probation or parole office to be sure, but in Texas, you generally are allowed to drive immediately if you install an IID. The suspension is often avoidable as well.
After conviction, a restricted interlock license allows you to regain your freedom to drive if the vehicle is equipped with an IID. When the TXDOT.gov receives notice from the court that you are eligible to install an ignition interlock, you have 30 days to complete an interlock device installation. Without an IID and a restricted interlock license, your driving privileges will be canceled.

What are the steps to license recovery in Texas?
If you are ordered upon bond release by the state of Texas to install an IID, call LifeSafer at 800-634-3077 to schedule a same day/next day installation. You may only have 3 days in some courts to complete your interlock device installation. If this applies to you, skip the next paragraph.
If you are not ordered upon bond release, that means you have to wait until conviction to install you IID. When you will be able to install an IID for probation, contact a LifeSafer Customer Support Expert at 800-634-3077 to schedule your interlock device installation.
There will be a restricted interlock license fee as well as a reinstatement fee which you will submit to:
Texas Department of Public Safety
ATTN: Central Cash Receiving
PO Box 15999
Austin, TX 78761
For more information on submitting these fees visit: https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/IgnitionInterlock.htm
Be sure to include your name, DOB, and driver license number on all documents that you submit. Once payment is received, it usually takes about 21 days to process.
